How to choose a branding agency in Des Moines

What to decide before you call, which questions separate one firm from another, and why each of the 14 branding agencies on this list is here. Each was checked against its own site and at least one independent source. Nobody pays to be ranked.

What you are hiring

A branding agency is hired for positioning, identity and the system that keeps both consistent. The expensive mistake is buying a logo when the problem is that the company cannot say what it is for.

Ask where the work stops. A strategy deck, a visual identity, and a set of templates the team can actually use are three different endings. Price follows the ending.

Decide this before you call

Write these down before you talk to a branding agency. A vague brief produces a vague price.

  • Say whether the problem is the strategy, the look, or the fact that nobody uses either.
  • Name who is allowed to decide. Brand projects stall when everyone has a vote.
  • Bring the places the identity has to live: site, sales deck, product, sign, packaging.
  • Decide whether renaming is in play. Say so at the start.

Questions worth asking

Ask each firm the same list. The useful part is the difference in the answers, not a polished version of the question.

  • Do you start with the words or with the visual system, and why for a company like ours?
  • What will our team be able to make without you when this is over?
  • Who does the strategy, and who designs? Are they the same person?
  • What is not included: website, packaging, guidelines, a launch?
  • Can you show a system a client still uses, not only the launch case?

Hiring in Des Moines

This list is branding agencies based in the Des Moines metro. It is not a list of every firm that will take a Des Moines client. Meeting in person is usually realistic, which helps when the work depends on the local market. It does not replace a comparable piece of work.

A firm based here may still work nationally. A firm based somewhere else may still serve a company in Des Moines. If place matters to the job, say so. If it does not, judge the work.

How to use this list

Write the job in one paragraph. Keep the two or three firms whose reason for being here matches that job.

Open each profile. It says who leads the firm, work they can show, and a price if they published one. If they did not publish a price, the profile shows a typical estimate and says it is not a quote.

Then ask each firm for one piece of work like yours, and the name of the person who would do it.

The order weighs how long the firm has done the work, clients it can name, its size, and how clear its specialism is. Nobody pays to be ranked.

This list has no featured card. Nothing on it is paid placement.

If a profile leaves out a leader, a price, or a founding year, no source stated it.
